Relativistic nature of the EMC-effect
The deep inelastic scattering of leptons off nuclei is studied within the the BetheSalpeter formalism. It is shown that nuclear short-range structure can be expressed in terms of the nucleon structure functions and four-dimensional Fermi motion of the nucleons. The four-dimensional Fermi motion broadens the bound nucleon localization area, what leads to the observation of the nucleon structure ...
متن کاملThe EMC Effect in Spin Structure Functions
We intend to perform the first measurements of the spin-dependent EMC effect utilizing CLAS12 in Hall B. We will polarize Li, in which a highly polarized proton is embedded in a nuclear medium, using a LiH target. The experiment measures the spin structure function g p|Li 1 in a range of 2 < Q 2 < 9 GeV and 0.1 < x < 0.7. This spin dependent EMC effect emphasizes the quark polarization degrees ...
متن کاملGauge symmetry and the EMC spin effect
We emphasise the EMC spin effect as a problem of symmetry and discuss the renormalisation of the C = +1 axial tensor operators. This involves the generalisation of the Adler-BellJackiw anomaly to each of these operators. We find that the contribution of the axial anomaly to the spin dependent structure function g1(x,Q ) scales at O(αs). This means that the anomaly can be a large x effect in g1....
متن کاملReturn of the EMC Effect Gerald
The relationship between the properties of nuclear matter and structure functions measured in lepton-nucleus deep inelastic scattering is investigated using light front dynamics. We find that relativistic mean field models such as the Walecka, Zimanyi-Moszkowski (and point-coupling versions of the same) and Rusnak-Furnstahl models contain essentially no binding effect, in accord with an earlier...
